About Me

My background is in community-centered public health, which so far has included working with and for the Somali communities that raised me, advocating with the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless on their legislative agenda, and contributing to state policy initiatives to address the opioid epidemic.

I currently work as a project coordinator at CARHE and coordinate four of our projects. This can include several tasks including but not limited to assisting with the budget, drafting a project workplan and timeline, drafting recruitment materials, and submitting project deliverables. Virtually all of our work at CARHE is focused on dismantling structural racism in order to reduce and ultimately eliminate health inequities. This is healing for me because I am fueled by a love for BIPOC communities and a drive for social justice.

I earned my BA in Health Services Management & Public Health from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and my MPH in Community Health Promotion from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.
