Advancing the measurement of structural racism through the lens of antiabortion policy

Abstract

On June 24th, 2022, the US Supreme Court revoked the right to abortion in the landmark Dobbs v Jackson decision. This decision on the legal status of abortion is deeply embedded in the history of structural racism and White supremacy in the United States. In this issue of AJPH, Riley et al. (p. 1662) compellingly describe how antiabortion policies are rooted in and uphold White supremacy, and they call for public health researchers to address abortion criminalization in the context of advancements in the measurement of structural racism.
